Subject-Based Tutoring at CT
At the baseline, CT is focused on providing individualized, engaging, and productive instructional sessions on a variety of courses. From reviewing key concepts in a finance lecture to pre-teaching an entire unit in grade 11 math, we have the tutors with an intimate knowledge of the course content as well as the ability to teach in a way that is uniquely accessible to the student. This to me is what tutors have to be able to do at the minimum at CT.
Tutoring can be so much more than content instruction if the situation calls for it. Students can use their tutoring to develop so many associated academic skills and a number of meaningful life skills. Sometimes challenges lay in the tasks surrounding school - organization, time management, study, assignments scaffolding - and our tutors are equipped to help students level up those skills so they can put any newfound understanding to better use on key assessments.
Lastly, and perhaps most everlastingly, are the life lessons that a tutor/academic coach/mentor can teach. The 1:1 dynamic is fertile ground for exploring and learning valuable life lessons such as self-advocacy with authority figures, personal accountability, goal-setting, and ensuring effort is aligned with desired outcome. We are fervid believers that school and the pursuit of academic improvement can teaches lessons that will also be relevant to their professional and personal lives.
